Tens of thousands of Jews and Edomites died in the battle. Many of them were sold into slavery, and some fled to the
countryside.

Some sixty years later, under Bar Kochba, they again fought against the Romans and were again defeated.  It was at that time that Rome passed a law forbidding any Jews to live in Judea. The remaining Jews/Edomites fled to the colonies of Jews whom had remained in Egypt and the area of Babylon, Iraq. The Jews and Edomites had eventually become thoroughly integrated/mingled into one people.

The Edomites did not become Jews; the Jews became Edomites - children of Amalek.

When the Jews rejected Jesus, they lost their birthright just
as Esau lost his birthright. 2 Timothy 2:12 "If we suffer, we
shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny
us:" The Jews then were no longer the "chosen ones"; it was/is those whom have faith in Jesus who are the chosen ones. Jesus cast out the Jews in Matthew 15:3-9, in Matthew 23 is when the Jews were given seven woes/judgements. In I John 8 Jesus defines the children of Abraham saying they are "those who have faith in Him and it is not our traditions of men"; Matthew 15:3 "But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?",
