God gave the children of the House of Israel and House of Judah a bill of divorcement, casting them out in 722BC 
and 586BC respectively. It was about 70 years later that God caused the Jews of the House of Judah to return to Jerusalem. The story of their return may be found in the books of Ezra and Nehemiah. Their downfall came in 126BC 
when they allowed the children of Amalek, the Edomites to live and mingle their seed (DNA) with the seed of the Jews.  The Edomites circumcised the males and lived by Jewish laws, but brought their own gods into the mix. The Jews too had the Babylonian Talmud which became their oral tradition of men which Jesus hated. The Talmud is the preferred religious book of the Jews today; overriding even that of the Old Testament.
