King Saul saved what he thought to be the best of the beasts to sacrifice to God. Beasts owned by a heathen people are often possessed by devils. King Saul did not obey the command of God. The demonic can and does inhabit anything it wishes to inhabit. This author has much experience with such things, but that is another topic for another time. In 2 Samuel 23:6-7 we are told that when we fight against a possessed person we must wear the full armor of God (see Ephesians 6:13-18) lest the demonic jump into the one fighting against one whom has has given himself over to evil. 2 Samuel 23:6-7 "¶ But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands: {7} But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the same place." Some of the last words of David were those verses.

Belial:  2 Corinthians 6:15 "And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?" This verse is about opposites; Belial then is Satan.

Thorn(s):  2 Corinthians 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

The thorn in the above verse then is a messenger (evil angel) sent by Satan to chastise Apostle Paul (buffet means chastise).

Please, do a study on briers and thorns; reading and meditating on all verses containing those words so you will understand just what they mean. Not all words mean the same thing in every verse. Only by studying precept (commandment) upon precept, and line (connecting O.T. with N.T.) upon line will you learn the truth of God's Word.

Agag then is Satan, the spirit which had possessed the King of the Amalekites and King Saul had brought Agag (also used as a title) back with him to Israel, angering God. Because King Saul did not obey the word of the Lord, God took the kingdom from him; giving it to King David.

In Genesis 36:16 we learn that Duke Amalek, perhaps a giant, came from the land of Edom. Amalek is the son of Adah, a descendant of Eliphaz, son of Esau and his concubine Timna. Amalek then was carrying within him the seed of the fallen angels. In Genesis 36:12 and 1 Chronicles 1:36 we learn that the descendants of the tribal chiefs of Edom were Amalekites who had settled in the Negev desert and who had become allies of the Edomites, Moabites, Ammonites, Ishmaelites and Midianites; enemies of the children of Israel. The Canaanites, children of Ham, Hittites,
